Jeep® SA Longboarding Champs 2007

  “Matthew Moir, South Africa’s top longboard surfer and a world championship winner, once again took top honours, beating last year’s champion Tyrone Jensen in the open division of the Jeep® South African Longboard 2008 championships held around the peninsula from 26 April to 2 May.
  Moir, presently competing in the World Longboard Championships in France, dazzled spectators in wind-whipped conditions at Noordhoek beach and Kommetjie’s Long Beach. Jensen - who is also competing in the World Champs - was knocked out in the semis along with Camps Bay’s big-move surfer William Wallace, by junior and open division surfer Justin Bing and Thomas King. Bing is competing in France on a wild card.
 Spectators’ delight Johno Rosslind, who executed impressive manoevres with grace, competence and panache, slipped into fourth in the open division, with King second and Bing third...”

Jeep® / Sunday Tribune Hill2Hill 2007

“Burry Stander and Brandon Stewart fought out a classic duel in the Sunday Tribune Jeep® Hill 2 Hill Mountain Bike Marathon from Hilton to Hillcrest on Sunday, with defending champion Stander claiming victory by about 5cm after 105km of tough racing.

  In the women's event, defending champion Tania Raats had not fully recovered from illness over the past week and had to settle for second behind Amy-Jane Mundy in a reversal of last year's result.  While Stewart was heartbroken to have lost the race in the final metres, it was probably a just result with Stander slightly stronger until a puncture allowed Stewart to take the lead in the final 10km.  Stander, who two weeks ago finished a superb sixth in the under 23 race at the World Championships, was full of racing and stamped his authority at the first real climb of the event...”

Jeep® / Independant on Saturday South Coast Surf Carnival 2007
 
“Matthew “mouse” Moir (Cape Town) and Jason Ribbink (Durban) proved to be in a league of their own in the early rounds of Africa’s biggest pro longboarding event at the South Coast Surf Carnival on Saturday, November 03, 2007. The fifth annual South Coast Surf Carnival at Scottburgh beach on the KZN south coast is sponsored by the Ugu-South Coast Tourism Board and presented by Jeep® Apparel and Independent on Saturday.

2006 ISA World Longboard Champion Moir and Ribbink who was rated second in the world in 2001, set the standard with polished performances that combined old school longboarding styles with progressive manoeuvres to score heat tallies of 16.5 and 17.5, respectively in the Open division. Ribbink laid claim to the highest single wave score of the day earning 9 out of a possible ten points for a series of big re-entries as well as walking to the nose in a critical section of the wave. ...”
